Claiming reimbursements with your plan manager

We’ve previously discussed how people who self-manage their NDIS plan can easily take advantage of all the benefits of using Care Hive to find, book, and pay for the supports they want, with the flexibility to choose any of the growing number of quality providers (both NDIS registered and non-registered) on our platform. 

In this blog post, we take a look at how people with an approved NDIS plan who are Plan Managed can also enjoy all the benefits of using Care Hive. 

Did you know that if you are Plan Managed it is possible for you to pay for nearly every NDIS support with your own money and be paid back (reimbursed) by the NDIS out of your NDIS budget?  

Let’s look at how …

You can be reimbursed for nearly every NDIS support as long as you have the funding in your NDIS plan for it, the NDIS considers it reasonable and necessary, and if your Plan Manager has the capability to help you claim reimbursements with the NDIS.

So, if you are Plan Managed and want to experience all of the flexibility, choice of providers, and ease of making bookings for supports that Care Hive offers, I’d recommend that you first have a chat with your Plan Manager to confirm that they can help you claim reimbursement.  We are aware that Plan Partners, a national plan management company, currently does have the capability, but they are not the only option. 

When you use Care Hive to book support:

  • it is FREE for you to use the platform
  • you can choose from both NDIS registered and non-registered providers giving you more choice, control, and flexibility
  • you pay the provider using your own money (payment is made securely to the provider via the credit card details linked to your Care Hive account – you don’t need to take any action) 
  • the provider is only paid once you have received your support
  • you automatically receive a tax invoice/receipt by email on the same day (which you can use to claim reimbursement from the NDIS).

What about if I am NDIA managed?

If you are currently NDIA managed you can easily switch to Plan Management or Self Management. A significant benefit of making the change is that it allows you to use your funding to choose from both NDIS registered and non-registered providers – something you can’t do if you’re NDIA managed. There are many high quality and reputable providers around the country that provide an excellent service but don’t have the time or resources to go through the registration process.  Anyone can make a request to NDIA to have Plan Management support included in their plan.  There are no eligibility criteria to meet – all you need to do is ask.
